Please check out our blog
Our current projects include:
Small Claims Collective
A volunteer collective has been formed to sue the police in small claims court around police misconduct and racism. Law students and legal workers from SRGLWG with others work with community organizations to locate potential cases, and represent them on a probono basis in small claims court.
Taxi Workers Tickets
The Ontario Coalition Against Poverty (OCAP) has been assisting the Taxiworkers Coalition – a coalition of progressive taxi workers organizing against racism and for justice for taxi workers. OCAP has been helping the workers organize by fighting on a pobono basis the pervasive tickets given to their members by the police and provincial offenses officers. SRGLWG members have been at the forefront of organizing this campaign!
Immigration Legal Committee
In conjunction with local immigrant rights group, No One Is Illegal, SRGLWG has developed free popular education method workshops on a variety of immigration law topics and on local campaigns for justice for immigrants. As well, the committee is working with FCJ refugee centre to develop workshops to assist non status people in filing their own applications for permanent residency.
